Which Tools Do I Need for a DIY Kitchen Remodel?

Taking on an entire kitchen remodel is no easy task, and while we certainly don’t recommend it for beginners, if you’ve got some experience under your belt already, you could be ready to tackle a kitchen renovation. Having said that, you’re going to need the right tools for the job, keep reading and we will walk you through everything you need to grab beforehand to make sure your DIY kitchen renovation goes smoothly.

Impact Driver & Bits

The impact driver is going to be the bread and butter of your operation, and it’s useful in almost every situation. Everything from disassembling old cabinets, putting together the new ones, installing drywall and making repairs all over. There’s really no substitute for a good impact driver, we recommend it’s one of the first things you pick up.

Various Saws & Blades

Depending on what types of cuts you’ll be making, a few good saws will go a long way for this project. The good news is that you have options, take a look at Miter saws, Table saws, oscillating saws and hole saws. Each one has a unique purpose, but the most important factor to keep in mind is whether you’ll be making longer cuts along the length of the wood, or cutting pieces down to a certain height.

Tile Saw & Tile Snap Tool

If you’re doing a lot of tiling in your kitchen, you’ll definitely want to rent one of these. There are a few different types of tile saws, but we definitely recommend going for a higher grade one rather than buying something cheap that could break. Make sure for any glass based tiles, such as subway tile that you use a snap tool instead of a tile saw. This will prevent splintering in your tiles, which you’ll really want to prevent.

Drywall Trowel

This is an easy thing to pick up, you can most likely purchase it rather than rent it. But this is used to smooth out your drywall and make sure it dries out straight. When you’re hanging your cabinets, having a nice smooth wall will really help them stay straight and sturdy for years to come.
